LOOKING BACK OVER THE LAST YEAR…

CATS Boston

Looking back over the last academic year, we are reminiscing about our students’ incredible achievements and successes, as well as the events and activities that make the school such a unique place for our students to learn, develop their talents and enjoy a happy educational experience.

August 2023

CATS Academy Boston

Induction & Orientation Week is a favourite for both students and the teaching faculty at CATS Academy Boston. Our new students were incredibly excited as they were introduced to life at the school. They had the chance to meet their teachers before class started, familiarize themselves with the campus, socialise with other new students and take part in fun activities and trips. For our teachers, this is always a really enjoyable time as they meet the new faces joining our CATS Boston community.

September

September saw us kick off the school year with CATS Carnival. Held each year, the Carnival brings the whole school together for an afternoon of fun. This year, students enjoyed an inflatable slide and games, created sidewalk art celebrating their different cultures, a piñata and candyfloss. Our Hockey Academy also treated everyone to a spontaneous dance party and an excellent barbeque was also prepared for everyone by our catering team.

We also opened our new Weights Room this month. Giving our students an enhanced space to work on their fitness, strength and their wellbeing.

October

Students and staff were dressed to impress at our spectacular Barbie & Suits themed Homecoming dance. A highlight of the year, students enjoyed a photobooth for unforgettable snaps, a delightful Chocolate Fountain, scrumptious cookies, and a candy bar to satisfy those sweet cravings.

At CATS Boston, Homecoming is more than just a dance. It is a long-standing tradition where we welcome alumni back to campus and celebrate the unique spirit and culture of our school. The week also included the Homecoming Girls Soccer Game and the Homecoming U18 AHA Hockey Game.

We also held our first CATS Café of the year, an open-mic style event where students can get up and perform in front of their friends and other students. Our talented musicians and singers took to the stage to entertain their audience with a wide variety of songs. The energy in the salon is always buzzing and the room is packed when CATS Café takes place!

November

CATS Boston performing arts

This month, our Performing Arts students staged a performance of Ten Ways To Survive The Zombie Apocalypse. There is always something special about a CATS Boston theater performance as it brings students and staff from across the school together to bring the performance to life: actors, set builders, costume designers, backstage support, lighting production, props. This performance was no exception. Our talented cast entertained their audience with a fantastic production which was enjoyed by everyone.

December

Festive CATS Boston

Embracing the festive season, December saw the school’s annual Tree Lighting ceremony, organized by the CATS Student Government. Students and staff gathered together outside to watch as the lights on the school’s impressive Christmas tree were switched on by Mrs Sheridan (dressed as Santa Claus). Students spent the afternoon decorating the tree, which was adorned in baubles and candy canes, not forgetting the star in pride of place at the top.

In December, we also celebrated as our students started to receive their college acceptances. Acceptances were received through Early Decision from the University of Pennsylvania and Brown University!

January 2024

The new year started positively as our students received their SAT scores, with 4 students achieving scores within the top 10% of test takers! An incredible achievement!

We also celebrated as our girls’ basketball team secured their first victory of the season, taking home the Cambridge Cup trophy.

This month also saw us unveil our new state-of-the-art basketball court and bleachers, creating an enhanced environment for our basketball players both within the academy and those who play for fun.

February

The CATS Boston community welcomed February with a strong start as we witnessed several sporting and academic successes. The AHA U16 hockey team became the PPHL champions and the U15 team won the THF Championship.

Hot on their tail, our robotics team, the Griffinators, advanced to the state finals of the Robotics Tech Challenge.

March

With the arrival of Spring, we congratulated one of our student-athletes, Jaylen, who was named the Gatorade Massachusetts Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year! Jaylen is a prominent member of the CATS Boston community, and we were so proud his exciting accomplishment.

At the same time, another of our student-athletes from the Hockey Academy was also celebrating an incredible accomplishment of his own. Canaan played for China’s U18 team to win the gold medal in the IIHF Championship Division III group. We are always impressed by the talent and determination of our students, whether it is athletics, the arts or academics.

April

April brought our DANCE-A-THON! This school event saw students and staff come together in the gym for a 4 hour dance fest starting at 11pm and finishing at 3am! It was brilliant to see students from different grades having fun together and really epitomizes what makes the school such a close community.

May

May was a busy month! We watched our golf team finish an undefeated season as league champions in the SENE Golf Tournament. We held our annual Award Ceremony where we celebrated our students’ academic, artistic and athletic achievements, and recognized those who had positively contributed to residential and school life.

A rite of passage for any High School student, Prom is always a fantastic night for our students! This year students and staff dressed to impress as they enjoyed a delicious meal and danced the night away. A photobooth captured all the memories for students to take with them.

We celebrated our senior students at Graduation. An emotional day as we say goodbye to our students who are continuing their educational journey at colleges and universities across the US, with some travelling further afield to study around the world.

The Performing Arts students treated the school community to a mesmerizing performance of Into The Woods. The audience was blown away by the vocal and acting skills demonstrated by the students who took to the stage.

CATS Boston Culture Fair

CATS Boston wrapped up the year with one of the most anticipated events of the year, the Culture Fair. Students and staff prepared and shared food and drink from the wide variety of cultures that make up our school community. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as students and staff moved around the room, sampling food and drink from around the world. Students went above and beyond to decorate their stands with flags and items that symbolize their country. Among others, students from the US, Italy, China, Ukraine, Spain, Mexico and Brazil were representing their countries.

What a year it has been! “I am so proud of how our students have shone through various academic, athletics and arts achievements this year” said Kathleen Sheridan, Principal of CATS Boston. “Our campus is always a hub of activity with students and staff going above and beyond to make our school a happy place to learn, enjoy new experiences and make friends from around the world. I am excited to see what the next year will bring!”
