Volleyball at CATS Academy Boston

CATS Boston introduced its girls’ volleyball program in 2018 and, having seen the girls achieve considerable success, developed a boys’ program in 2019. The CATS Boston volleyball program offers opportunities for competitive, interscholastic play and a chance for students to develop their skills in a fun, supportive environment. Due to popularity, the school started a JV Co-Ed volleyball program in 2021.

Our Teams

Girls’ Volleyball

CATS Boston developed its girls’ volleyball program, which competes within the Girls Independent League (GIL) in the spring of 2018. What started as a club sport offering has blossomed into one of the school’s top athletic offerings. Competing in the spring each school year, the girls’ volleyball team has seen immediate success including an undefeated inaugural season in the spring of 2019. The championship run was our first league championship in any sport. Since then, the team has gone from strength to strength.

Boys’ Volleyball

CATS Boston’s boys’ volleyball program was founded in the spring of 2019, following the success of the girls’ program. After functioning as a club program for a couple of years, the boys team elevated to a full season program in the spring of 2022. In 2023, we joined forces with Boston University Academy, The International School of Boston and the British International School of Boston to create the Boys Volleyball League.

Each team plays each other twice in regular season competitions, leading to a playoff structure that sees the 1-seed host the 4-seed and the 2-seed host the 3-seed in 2 semifinal matches. The winners of both semifinal matches then compete in the inaugural BVL championship. CATS Boston’s boys team won the 2023 BVL Championship with a perfect 8-0 overall record.  The boys’ team rounds out their regular season schedule with competition against local public and charter schools in the greater Boston region.
